Midday in a deserted park along my beloved river. Bright light and deep shadow, oppressive heat, the air as still as death.  Off the trail it’s a sea of stinging nettle and poison ivy. Squirrels chatter in the distance. It feels like home to me.

We seem to return to the things we love, drawn by need and desire.
